LYNN WITZEL, SENIOR AUDITOR / SYSTEMS SPECIALIST

Ms. Witzel joined ICAPS in 1990. Ms. Witzel is responsible for auditing self-funded health, dental, and disability claims. In addition, she is a key resource on projects that focus on the evaluation of claim systems. Ms. Witzel provides the following services to clients throughout the United States...

• Review of plan documents and summary plan descriptions (SPDs)
• Preparation of summaries and/or flowcharts of plan specifications
• Auditing of claims for monetary and procedural accuracy
• Coordination of the rebuttal process for contested claims
• Documentation of claims procedures

Prior to joining ICAPS, Ms. Witzel gained extensive knowledge in employee benefits at two major insurance companies. For ten years, she was a health, life, and long term disability examiner, trainer, internal claims auditor, and claims supervisor. In addition, Ms. Witzel played a key role in designing systems specifications, evaluating claim systems and making related equipment purchase recommendations. Also, she led the implementation of an automated claim system, which included testing the system and loading policy data.

Ms. Witzel received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech/Communications from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis campus. She is a member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefits and the Midwest Fraud Association. She has completed several Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA) courses and has received designations as a Managed Healthcare Professional (MHP) and Health Insurance Associate (HIA). She continuously updates her education in the employee benefits field.
